100 Singapore icons: Brands that endure
From companies that have been around since Singapore's independence to familiar mascots and symbols, it's a display of the most enduring local signs. Video from CNNGo's Justin Zhuang.
Seven leading Singapore designers have come together to form The Design Society (TDS). The goal -- to raise the standard of local designers, and grow the appreciation for Singapore graphic design.
One of their first initiatives was to document 100 of Singapore logos, symbols, trademarks and icons since independence. An exhibition of this collection, 100 ICONS, is on until Friday, January 29, at the National Library building. It's a retrospective of some of Singapore’s most widely seen and recognized visual icons, and in many ways, this exhibition marks the start of a serious effort to compile and document Singapore’s modern design history.
On the night of setting up the exhibition, we talked to TDS's Vice-President Jackson Tan, who is also Creative Director of Black Design, to find out more about Singapore icons and how they have evolved over the years. See the video.
