Oberoi Hotel's charming 'innkeeper' gives us a private video tour

As this favorite Mumbai hotel is resurrected after extensive surgery, its owner -- the understated and elegant Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi -- opens the door for CNN

As you will have heard if you're anywhere near a newspaper or TV or CNNGo -- Mumbai's Oberoi hotel, a target during the terrorist attacks in November 2008, reopens to the public this weekend, April 24.

New restaurants and bars are among the highlights of this US$45 million makeover (read more). The Oberoi is a landmark Mumbai property known for some of the best hospitality in town. Which, people say, is due to the utterly charming Mr Oberoi and his old school values.

P.R.S. Oberoi, better known as Biki Oberoi, is the son of the hotel's founder and the current chairman and CEO of EIH Ltd, of which the Oberoi group is a part.

Walk with CNN's Mallika Kapur as Mr Oberoi takes her on a private tour of his newly restored and refurbished Mumbai hotel.

There's a nice 2004 Talk Asia interview on CNN tracing the history of the Oberoi group. Host Lorraine Hahn asked Mr Oberoi how he would describe himself as a hotelier.

"Would you say you were typical hotelier?" asks Hahn.

"When people ask me I say I am an innkeeper," he replies

"An innkeeper? Why do you say that?"

"Well, that's what hotel keeping is about."
