Minibar Royale: Fashionable eats

Few places in Bangkok try as hard to be hip as Minibar Royale. Its walls are adorned with artsy black and white photos, its music is selectively indie and its menu makes use of more than one ironic exclamation point.

We think the effect works though, largely because its owners, the Sretsis fashion sisters, and a handful of their young, hip, New York-schooled friends know the terrain well. The Minibar brasserie channels the charms of Paris and feels more like the Big Apple than Bangkok.

Including a mix of casual French fare and American comfort food, Minibar Royale's dishes are done well and hard to find elsewhere in the city. The cocktail menu is also original and outstanding, with the Minibar Mule and La Pomegranate being especially tasty.
